06/13/2010 - Springfield, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - More weather problems on Sunday forced the State Farm Classic into a Monday finish at Panther Creek Country Club.
The third round had also been delayed by thunderstorms and heavy rain. That round was finished earlier Sunday, while players remained in the same groups for the final round.
More than half of the field was able to complete the final round, but the last group was only on the ninth hole when the bad weather rolled in and halted action.
Officials waited over four hours Sunday afternoon before announcing there would be a Monday finish. Several storm systems moved through the area over that time forcing the extra day.
When play was called, Anna Nordqvist and Cristie Kerr shared the lead at 20- under par.
Nordqvist's par putt on the 10th was rolling towards the hole as officials blew the horns to halt play for the day. The Swede was four-under through 10 holes.
Kerr, the 2004 champion, was one-under through eight holes of the final round. When players return to the course, she will have a six-foot birdie putt to reclaim the lead.
Kerr led by three strokes after completing her third-round, nine-under 63 earlier Sunday. She collected six birdies in her final 14 holes of the third round.
Nordqvist and Kerr are on pace to break the event scoring record. Only twice in the first 34 years of the tournament have players finished more than 20- under par. Kerr set the tourney record in 2004, when she was 24-under 264. Kate Golden, who posted 21-under 267 in 2001, was the other player to break the 20-under barrier at this event.
Na On Min carded a four-under 68 and was the leader in the clubhouse at 17- under-par 271. Jee Young Lee, Katie Futcher, Gwladys Nocera and Na Yeon Choi were also minus-17, but still have holes to play in the final round.
NOTES: 2009 champion In-Kyung Kim closed with a five-under 67 to finish at 13- under-par 275...Michelle Wie, who stumbled to a 73 in round three, was three- under through 16 holes of the final round. Wie stood at minus-eight when play was called...Twenty-nine players will return to the course Monday morning to complete their final rounds.
